Random Acts of Fun
If “fun” were a brand, what would it look like? That’s the question behind Downtown Round Rock’s Random Acts of Fun—a spontaneous event series designed to deliver surprise and delight for the whole family. From coffee carts to free flowers and popsicles, each activation shifts, but all of them spark playful, unexpected moments of connection and joy.

INITIAL DIRECTIONS
I was absolutely delighted to jump into creative direction explorations. Beyond purpose, audience and timeframe, other considerations included:
Using Round Rock’s brand blues, but noting the client voiced interest in a “rainbow” palette. Their inspo images included a lot of pink as well…
The “what” of each Random Act of Fun was not set in stone. The client was interested in seeing iconography, but unsure one image would say it all.
Direction 1: A custom bouncy type and energetic illustration style.
Direction 2: A disco ball tested the waters of fun iconography. Each event may be different, but they’ll all be a party!
Direction 3: Winner, winner! Playful containers and varying typefaces said “fun” but also “random.” Shapes and frames were joy support.
